CURRENT VACANCIES:

GENERAL:

We often have vacancies for experienced coaches at Premier and Premier Reserve level that may be looking for opportunities to start on the pathway towards a Performance Coach Qualification.  Alternatively coaches at this level may be on their way to completing the Community Coach Award.

Victoria University Basketball Club are also looking to help developing first time coaches and we have coaching positions available throughout the Senior Grades if you are looking for a highly supportive environment in which to get into coaching for the first time. 

​

We accept coaches who wish to coach alone or co-coach. 

​

We also accept player coaches and will provide financial help with their Victoria University Basketball Club Fees.

TIME COMMITMENT

The time commitment varies depending on the level of the team. You can expect a minimum commitment per week of:

• 1-2 hour during the week for training;

• 1.5 -2 hours for games and warm ups; and

• 1 - 1.5 hours for training session planning and communications.

Over the course of the season the committee will run workshops, catch ups and debriefs. This commitment is approximately 2-3 hours over the course of the season. This is so we can support you in your role and identify issues early.

The 2020 season is expected to run between May to September. Games DO run throughout the University holidays.

Trials are expected to take place in early May 2020, coaches will be expected to attend most of the trials, depending on level. ​​​​​​​

FACILITIES AND TRAINING

Victoria University Basketball Club trains across the following facilities: 

• ASB Sports Centre;

• University Recreation Wellington; and

• Queen Margaret College; and

• Wellington East Girls' College.

We work hard to ensure that a range of equipment and resources are available to our coaches such as: hurdles, ladders, balls etc. for trainings.

We are working hard to get our teams more indoor court training space, however this is limited to what funds we can raise as a club.
