Sport New Zealand (2019) said that volunteers are the backbone of New Zealand sport and here at Victoria University Basketball Club (VUBC) we could not agree more.
We know that we could not achieve what we have [so far] without the incredible help of our volunteers. Volunteering lies at the heart of all sporting organisations and without the help of volunteers’ clubs like VUBC would not be possible and we recognise that every step of the way.
They are the unsung heroes of our organisation giving up their time to help us and create an organised, safe and inviting space for our members to be a part of. Without the help of volunteers this would not be possible and would create less opportunities for our teams as we could not reach our true potential without them.
Coaches, managers, committee members and supporters are so important to the development and guidance of our fast growing club. We would not be able to provide tertiary basketball opportunities at VUBC without so many great volunteers who have been part of our basketball experience prior to and during our time here at Victoria University of Wellington.
Volunteers bring the community sense here at Victoria University of Wellington to life all while building social relationships and spreading the love of basketball.
So we want to say a huge THANK YOU to all those who have volunteered and given us their time at VUBC. We appreciate all our volunteers, as they truly are the backbone of our basketball community.
